I'm so fucking proud of this one and how it came out!! *0* Also... STORY TIME! As promised in fact number 4 in this journal fav.me/dbhscxu TIME TO EXPLAIN SOME SHIT!!

So, after landing in HxH world and having the run-in mentioned in journal above... well, it soon became very clear on my views with Illumi. I wanted to unalive him very badly. My fighting abilities weren't very developed at all (thanks Graves), so I knew I probably wouldn't be able to effectively off him.
Life happens, abilities grow, yada yada yada. It also is quite clear (with added help of me not being subtle; also honest) that I quite liked Hisoka; also Feitan. For a time, it was a very open ended "are we or are we not dating" sort of thing; I wasn't sure, and was just going with the flow. However...
My abilities were growing. As such, so was my desire to off Illumi; I never said, but Hisoka knew this; ever since the start he knew where my intentions were. So during the time frame of unknown dating status, (during of which, by the way, Feitan and Hisoka only suspected the other was someone I was also seeing, but it hadn't been confirmed by me for obvious reasons...) Hisoka finally asked directly if Feitan was the someone else I was seeing. I was honest and confirmed it; he was honest in confirming his own intentions (this was before The Fight happened and thus before the timeline changed).
It was a weird conversation in the way we were talking in circles yet also directly... hard to explain. The result, however, was him asking that if I had to choose, which of the two would it be. To which I said "Why not both? Polyamory is a thing." He wondered if I would truly commit to such a setup, and if Feitan even would agree to it; sharing someone with someone you hate couldn't be easy. I agreed but said it was worth talking about.

Next day, after talking through the night to Feitan about the whole ordeal, I met up with Hisoka again where I said of how he'd be fine with it; however I had one condition: Datemates cannot kill other datemates within our group. Directly, indirectly; I gave a whole bunch of examples. He was perfectly happy with this condition and VOILÁ; polyamory activated. Not much longer later, he offhandedly asked how I'd feel if he, like me, had gotten a second significant other who didn't mind the polyamory aspect. I told him it seemed fair to me; I didn't ask who it was. Just asked that he make sure he didn't contract anything he could pass onto me. ...Anyway.

So how was this all not pure of heart? Well Hisoka didn't want 1. Me to try and off Illumi and get killed by failing because he himself wanted to fight me once I "ripened" *shudder* 2. Me offing Illumi successfully because he also wanted to fight Illumi at some point.
Hisoka intended to propose the no kill rule as well as a polyamory sort of deal, buuut it worked out even better for him because I mentioned it, and he could keep Illumi and I from knowing that the other was Hisoka's other datemate. He knew damn well that I'd not have agreed to any part of it if I knew Illumi was involved.
On my end, it was also slightly underhanded. When Hisoka had asked which of the two I'd choose; had I been honest I'd have said Feitan. Hisoka and I hadn't developed anything remotely close to a personal connection at this point. As such, protecting Feitan was a higher priority; I'd been considering proposing the polyamory aspect and making that condition, but didn't know how to go about it. ~problem solved~~
Life goes on; our discovery about each other happens: (warning: OLD ART) fav.me/daeqip3 and eventually the fight which resulted in ANOTHER 2 rules creation; 1. in order for the No Kill rule to no longer be in effect, a datemate has to be dead for 24 hours and 2. You cannot attack that which would provoke one of the datemates to attack you. That is; neither Illumi nor Hisoka can do any actions against the Troupe. However this also means I cannot perform any actions against any of the other Zoldyck either.

So IN CONCLUSION: Polyamory started so that Hisoka could keep his toys intact until he did otherwise, and so that I could keep Feitan safe. I never asked why the Hell Illumi agreed to it all without knowing full details; don't care to.
Clearly, Hisoka's and I's relationship didn't start off on the healthiest footing, but me being me did eventually grow to genuinely love and care for my zombie man, and he... to do the same towards me as much as he could.

Yup.
